Girls explore the world of software development
Using the motto „Crime Scene IT - On the Trail of Crime“, qualitype GmbH is offering 6 girls the chance to get to know the professional field of software development on 28 March 2019. IT is only for boys? Not at all! The Germany-wide practice day clears up gender stereotypes and has been a driving force for individual career development for many years.
With a female share of 9.2%, the training occupation "IT specialist - application development" is one of the Girls' Day occupations. The proportion of female skilled workers in these occupations is less than 40%. Persistent prejudices still too often prevent girls from choosing an IT occupation, even though nowadays, pupils grow up with digital media as a matter of course.
The fact that software development is by no means a pure male domain is proven by qualitype GmbH with a varied program under the leadership of Steffi Schulz, Senior Developer and Training Manager at qualitype GmbH. Together with the Girls'Day team, the young participants will first go on a search for clues. After the crime scene has been analysed, it gets exciting. So who was the perpetrator? Trace analysis using software delivers the result. After a refreshing snack, the girls then of course have the opportunity to try their hand at programming.
